Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to make some noise about your business. Getting someone’s permission to send them emails (permission based email marketing) is one of the best things you can do. You have heard the phrase “the money is in the list”. When you have a list of people that have opted in, they are telling you “send me something. I want to know more.”
In order to send emails out, you have to get email addresses in. This is easily done by adding a lead capture form to your website and to facebook, text messaging and collecting information on a registration slip.
When someone signs up for your list, they automatically receive a message to check their inbox for confirmation. This email provides the confirmation link. This is called “double-opt in”. Double-opt in ensures that the person did in fact sign themselves up and does want your message. This protects against spam. (Just because you have a list of emails does not mean you can start sending them whatever you want. You need their permission first.)
Once there has been confirmation, the recipient will automatically receive a welcome email with whatever information you want to put into it. This can include a special report, coupon offer, video message and more.
